CTX Session challenge

read the rules

The rules tell you more than you think — if you actually look.

the challenge

This is a quiet observation challenge, not fishing.

Anglers often walk straight past the most important information on the venue.
This challenge flips that — you slow down, read the signs, and understand the water before a rod is even out.

No pressure. No performance. Just awareness.

what to do

  • Walk the venue and find the official noticeboard or signage

  • Read it properly — not a skim

  • Look for rules, stock info, restrictions, and local quirks

  • Note anything that surprised you or changed how you’d fish

That’s it. No rods. No bait. No casting.

what to log

Choose how you log it:

Quick Summary

  • Venue name

  • One rule or detail you didn’t expect

  • Why it matters

Full Tactical

  • Venue name + county

  • Key rules that affect rigs, bait, or behaviour

  • How this changes your future sessions here

Optional:

  • Photo of the sign (only if allowed

why try this

Because most arguments, bans, and bad sessions start with:

“I didn’t know.”

This challenge saves you hassle, earns quiet respect, and makes you look like someone who knows what they’re doing — even before you fish.

xp & PROGRESSION

  • 500 XP – Quick Summary

  • 750 XP – Full Tactical

  • +250 XP Bonus – You log a rule that directly affects safety, fish care or access

Max XP: 1,500

trust & fair plaY

Log only what you actually did

No staged photo’s or fake entries

XP is reviewed – honesty keeps the system fair.

CTX works because anglers trust each other. Fake logs ruin it for eveyone.

fish safety

Fish safety always comes first.

  • Snag-safe (venue-approved rigs only)
  • Always use unhooking mats
  • No stress for the fish.
If you’re unsure, don’t do it.

Fish care isn’t a challenge – it’s the baseline.

personal safety

  • No wading, climbing or unsafe access for this challenge
  • Don’t enter water or restricted area’s
  • Under 16s should be accompained by an adult.
  • Observe only – hands off, eyes open.
No XP is worth an accident.

venue respect

  • Follow venue rules at all times
  • This challenge does not involve fishing or baiting
  • If unsure, ask bailiff or venue staff before starting

Good behaviour keeps venues open and anglers welcome.
